During their trip through Delhi, both Pip and our designers, Naomi and Nelleke, were enchanted by the vibrant colours, elegant patterns and soft, golden light of the city. Handcrafted treasures and rich fabrics inspired her, and so our new collection was born. Namasté is a summery mix of colour, craftsmanship and elegance, with a touch of India in every print.
Namaste
During their trip to India, they were immersed in a world full of colour, scent and sound. Because a large part of the production takes place there and there was an important trade fair, Pip and the designers decided to travel to Delhi. On day three, they walked with a guide through the winding streets of Old Delhi, a market where there is so much to see. Silverware, flower garlands, handmade paper and stacks of scarves in deep colours provided an endless source of inspiration. Amidst the hustle and bustle, Pip found peace in a temple, quiet and magical. All these impressions inspired her to create a new collection: layered, vibrant and full of attention to detail. That is how Namaste came to life.
How did the prints come about?
For the designers, a print always starts with a feeling. Sometimes the idea comes from a single detail: a colour, a flower or an elegant arch. Sometimes there is already an existing element that invites further development. Mumbai Morning, for example, grew from a hand-drawn sketch, built up layer by layer with Indian flowers and a delicate twig print in the background, making it look as if it came straight out of a sketchbook. Bollywood Dreams also tells a layered story: temple decorations, arches and motifs come together in a rich print full of depth. Here you see India as Pip experienced it: colourful, intense and full of meaning.
Where do you see India most prominently in the collection?
India is woven into almost every print, but some designs exude the country even more. Think of Kairi Bloom, with border decorations and the iconic paisley shape that you often see in traditional Indian scarves. Or Namaste, a block print-like design inspired by the ancient technique of carving shapes by hand from wood. Even in the decorative cushions, such as Yuna with its airy, handmade look, you can see that craftsmanship is central. A balance is always sought between floral and graphic elements, and colours that can be effortlessly combined with each other: from bedding to loungewear. Even the names have been carefully chosen. Romantic, narrative and always fitting within the theme.
India lives on in the new bag collection too. Prints such as Imani and Bodhi Flower are rich in colour and detail, with a nod to traditional Indian patterns. Think graceful flowers, graphic borders and deep turmeric tones, all carefully composed. As with the rest of the collection, it's all about layering and combinations. That way, you can take a piece of Namaste with you wherever you go.
Indian craftsmanship subtly comes to life in the new bedding collection. The Mumbai Morning print is one of the favourites, with flowers built up layer by layer, each petal unique, full of hand-drawn details. Kairi Bloom also stands out, with an elegant border around the duvet cover. ‘It really completes your bed and creates a calm, serene look,’ says Nelleke. The stitched accessories feel like cotton, but are made from durable polyester and finished with a stone wash. This creates a slight crease and a traditional relief. Thanks to the double-sided design and smart fastenings, you can turn everything around as you wish. Naomi's favourite? ‘Bodhi Flower in yellow, so many beautiful accent colours, perfect for combining.’
Sometimes a collection doesn't start with a fabric, but with an adventure. During Pip's journey through India, past colourful temples and markets full of scents, the first idea for this loungewear line was born. The basis? Bright colours such as blue, pink and white. This was followed by prints such as Marigold, Kairi Bloom and Jaipur Flower, which combine large flowers, delicate twigs and Indian borders. Everything is built up layer by layer, with loving details that you can feel as soon as you put it on.
